I Am The Door

25"x40" pencil, pastel, and gold leaf on 140lb watercolor paper

"I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."
John 10:9-10

"I Am The Door"

John 10:9–10 reveals Jesus as the only true gateway to salvation, security, and abundant life. When Jesus says, “I am the door,” He is declaring Himself as the sole way into a restored relationship with God. Just as a shepherd protects his flock by being the gate to the sheepfold, Jesus offers Himself as the entry point to eternal safety and peace. Those who enter through Him are not only saved but are also welcomed into a life of spiritual nourishment, guidance, and freedom—symbolized by the promise that they will “go in and out and find pasture.”

In contrast to the thief, who comes to steal, kill, and destroy, Jesus comes to give life—full, overflowing, and eternal. This isn’t merely existence but a rich, meaningful life rooted in Him. The abundant life Jesus promises is not measured by possessions or ease but by the deep joy, peace, and purpose that come from walking with Him. This verse powerfully reminds us that true life—free from fear and full of hope—can only be found in Christ, the Good Shepherd and the Door to everlasting grace.
