​The Send the Word Initiative unites artists across the country in a shared mission: to prayerfully hand-paint Bibles that will be given free of charge to people who may never have owned one before. Each Bible is transformed into a unique work of art, not to draw attention to the artist, but to reflect the beauty of the Gospel and invite someone to open the pages within.

When was the last time you sat and thought about how terrifying God is? Yes, you read that correctly: terrifying. God is terrifying. Not the skin-crawling, dark terror of a horror movie; not at all! But the awe-inspiring, respect-demanding, obedience-deserving kind of terror that comes from being entirely and completely holy. We live in a culture that cares very little for respect, and because of this, the modern Church is forgetting the terror of God’s majesty.

The parable of the talents is one most Christians are familiar with, and one I’ve referenced here before. But I want to return to it because it holds such relevance regarding the Majesty Project and our ministry. Although the biblical word talent refers to the monetary currency of the time, I find the word particularly appropriate when considered in this context. One thing we do know about the Day of the Lord: it will come as a thief in the night (1 Thes 5:2), and on that day, we had best know where we stand. I pray God gives us the conviction to stand right here, as “A voice of one calling: ‘In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.” Isaiah 40:3

There is a command in Scripture that feels increasingly out of place in the modern world: “Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely… dwell on these things.” (Bible, Philippians 4:8) It is not a suggestion. It is a directive. And yet, when we look honestly at the culture around us, these qualities are becoming harder to find.

There is a quiet lie embedded in many struggling environments: Beauty is unnecessary. When resources are thin and needs are urgent, beauty is often the first thing to disappear. Walls become bare, lights turns harsh, furniture becomes purely practical. All too often, mere survival replaces thriving. But what if beauty was not meant to be a luxury? What if it was created as a form of restoration?

At Christmas, we celebrate something utterly breathtaking: the moment an invisible God stepped into visibility. The eternal Word, who spoke galaxies into existence, whose face we were unable to see for thousands of years, placed Himself in our sight. He didn’t merely speak from the heavens. He appeared. He let humanity see Him.

Majesty Project's team (plus our three sons) joined Shelter KC in their main lobby on the 13th of this month, and we had the honor of installing our first original art piece, "Liberty to the Captives."

As is becoming a regular occurrence, our pastor shared yet another sermon that applies very aptly to life as an artist: how God uses our spiritual gifts. At Majesty Project, we believe every artist, every believer, and every act of creativity is part of something much bigger than itself. It's part of God’s great design to reveal His glory on the earth.
