Christmas: God Made Visible

At Christmas, we celebrate something utterly breathtaking: the moment an invisible God stepped into visibility. The eternal Word, who spoke galaxies into existence, whose face we were unable to see for thousands of years, placed Himself in our sight. He didn’t merely speak from the heavens. He appeared. He let humanity see Him.
This reality takes on a new meaning for me this Christmas, as I am expecting our fourth birth any day now.
**Before I begin, I've linked below to one of the most beautiful and majestic Christmas songs I have ever heard. I encourage you to take a few minutes this season and listen to it (and don't skip the ending. Trust me.) This song inspired my drawing pictured above, titled 'Noel.'
A Savior Heralded in Glory
When Christ entered our world, heaven erupted.
A host of angels flooded the night sky, blazing with the brilliance of God’s glory as they proclaimed, “Glory to God in the highest!” The shepherds didn’t just hear an idea. They witnessed a magnificent sight—a visual declaration that the King had come. That moment encapsulates the heart of Majesty Project: heaven uses beauty, light, and imagery to reveal the nearness of God. God could have sent a simple message. Instead, He sent a visual display of grandeur we cannot even begin to fathom seeing.
A Star That Moved Wise Men to Action
Far from Bethlehem, men who studied the heavens noticed something astonishing: a star unlike anything they had ever seen. A celestial sign so compelling, so magnificent, that it pushed them into a two-year journey across harsh terrain just to meet the child it testified about.
Visual glory moved them. They saw—and then they followed.
God didn’t hide His Son. He announced Him visually to the world.
Why What We See Matters
In Scripture, God repeatedly uses imagery to speak to His people. Pillars of cloud and fire. Rainbows. Visions. Miracles witnessed by the eyes.
Christmas is the culmination of all of it: The Word became flesh so that we could behold Him with our own eyes.
God intentionally created us as visual beings. When we encounter beauty that reflects God—whether in the sky above Bethlehem or the artwork we place in our homes, churches, and shelters—we are reminded that He is not distant. He is Emmanuel: here with us.
What This Means for Majesty Project
The Majesty Project exists because God has always communicated Himself through beauty, glory, and visual revelation. At Christmas, we remember the ultimate example: God made Himself visible so the world could know Him.
And today, we join that mission—bringing visual reminders of His presence into places longing for hope.
Whether through original artwork placed in at-risk communities through the nonprofit arm of Majesty Project, or through equipping Christian artists to create work that reflects His nature through the upcoming Majesty Project Institute, we carry forward the message of Christmas:
God still reveals Himself. And beauty is one of His languages.
May every painting, every story, every act of generosity this season echo that first night when heaven split open and glory filled the sky.
Merry Christmas from Majesty Project—May you see Him anew this year.
