The Jesus Generation

“But Peter and John answered and said to them, "Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than God, make your own judgement; for we cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heart.” – Acts 4:19-20

I was deeply impacted by the sermon our pastor, Chad Fagerland, shared on Sunday here in Harrisonville, MO. I encourage you to take the time to watch the teaching above, or review the blog post as it applies to Majesty Project.

We Are Called In Our Generation

In Acts 13:36 we read that David “served God’s purpose in his own generation.” Notice that David didn’t serve in our generation, or in another time. He faithfully fulfilled his role in his moment of history. The same is true for us.

We are each entrusted with the responsibility of serving God’s purpose in our generation.

The truth is, the opportunity of a lifetime must be seized within the lifetime of the opportunity.

The window God gives us will not stay open forever. And I believe there is truly the opportunity of a lifetime before us, in our generation, in this moment. This is why Majesty Project exists—to stir up artists and believers who will not wait for “someday,” but who step forward now, bringing Christ-centered beauty into a culture desperate for it.

The Disturbance of Faithful Obedience

In Acts 3–4, after the apostles began boldly living out their faith, the religious leaders were “greatly disturbed.” They thought they had stamped out the movement of Jesus through His martyrdom through crucifixion, yet His followers carried on His mission with even greater courage.

The leaders of that day - the establishment, the culture, the expectations - held earthly power, but power cannot override divine authority. The Spirit of God was moving through ordinary men and women—fishermen, tax collectors, everyday people—who had been with Jesus, and the power on earth couldn't ignore it.

This is our moment, too. As culture seeks to silence or sideline truth, the Spirit calls us to keep creating, proclaiming, and living in a way that cannot be ignored.

Acts 4:13 – Commissioned by God, Not Credentials

The religious leaders recognized something striking about Peter and John: “they were unschooled, ordinary men… but they had been with Jesus.”

Dear Christian, let me impress something to you: you don’t need a seminary degree or artistic certification to be commissioned by God. If He calls you, follow. Our God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies those He calls. The evidence of your authority isn’t a résumé, a degree, or a certification—it’s the unmistakable mark of Jesus on your life.

The Five Characteristics of a Jesus Generation

So what does it look like to rise up as a generation that carries the mission of Christ in art, in ministry, and in everyday life? Scripture gives us a picture:

  1. They are filled with the Holy Spirit.

Power doesn’t come from talent or influence, but from God’s Spirit working through surrendered vessels. And know this: a little talent in God's hands will serve far more than much talent wielded on our own. If you feel inadequate, you are exactly who He is looking for.

  2. They spend intentional time with Jesus.

The authority of the apostles was rooted in their nearness to Him. We can’t pour out what we haven’t received. When we spend time in the Word, it exudes off of us: we cannot hide it. Culture will see a Christian who has been with Jesus.

  3. They carry a humble confidence.

True boldness isn’t arrogance—it’s courage anchored in who God is, not who we are. And when we stand with Christ, we can stand rooted in the knowledge that we are walking in the truth, and nothing can come against that.

  4. They serve only one Master.

To say that we live in a culture of divided loyalties is an understatement. Our society is divided on nearly every possible subject, and it can be confusing - until we recognize where we stand. We are called to live with single-hearted devotion to Christ, eliminating this confusion.

  5. They speak of what they have seen.

The apostles were witnesses: they could not help but testify to what they had experienced. What do witnesses do? They relate what they have observed, neither embellishing or omitting the truth. After that, it remains up to the jury to come to their own conclusion. We are called to share Christ's truth in the same—through words, through lives, and yes, through art.

If you are alive today, you are part of this Jesus generation. And if you follow Majesty Project - perhaps as an artist, or a donor, or a partner organization - God has laid this vision on your heart to one level or another.

Whatever the reason, you are reading this today because God brought you here, in this moment. What you do with this moment is up to you.

As for myself, I refuse to let this 'lifetime opportunity' pass me by. I want to be found faithful in the calling God has laid on our shoulders here at MP: reviving and reclaiming the majesty of God in a dark and godless generation.

I humbly ask you to join me, in whatever way He calls you to do so. And our team will move forward more intentionally than ever, believing that we can see revival in our lifetime.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being a part of this Project,
